Metalwork & Fabrication

Custom aluminium and glazing,
inside and out.

The rest of the aluminium and metalwork on a commercial build, from glass balustrades and handrails to screening, gates, awnings, protective bollards and bespoke fabrication, comes off the same Brendale drawing boards and workshop floor. At Allere, West Village that was the entire aluminium package on one set of shop drawings.

What we fabricate

From balustrades to bollards.

A commercial build carries a lot of architectural aluminium and metalwork: balustrades, handrails, screening, gates, awnings and protective items. Invicta fabricates all of it, so a builder can carry one subcontractor across the project instead of coordinating a handful.

Specifying a metalwork package

The questions we get asked.

Can Invicta supply the metalwork and the louvres together?

Yes, and it is how most of our projects run. At Allere, West Village we delivered louvres, batten and perforated screening, glass balustrades, handrails, gates, awnings and planter screens as a single package. It comes off one set of shop drawings, through our Brendale workshop, to our install crew, so the whole package is coordinated, inside and out.

Are your balustrades and handrails compliant?

They are engineered to the National Construction Code and AS/NZS 1170.1 barrier loadings, with handrails set out to AS 1428.1 on accessible paths and AS 1657 in plant and industrial areas. Aluminium members are designed to AS 1664. Shop drawings, engineering certification and site measure come with the package.

Do you fabricate in steel, or only aluminium?

Aluminium is our core material for architectural work. For impact and traffic items such as bollards and wheel stops, where steel is the right choice for impact resistance, we fabricate in steel, then have it hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated.

What are Heimdall bollards?

Heimdall is our impact bollard system for car parks and service areas. Sizes and layouts are set to the traffic and clearance requirements of the space, then powder-coated to suit wayfinding or architectural colours. At The Prince Charles Hospital car park the protective package ran to bollards, climb-mitigation fencing and more than 1,000 wheel stops.

Can you fabricate to an architect's custom detail?

Yes. Bespoke glazing, feature screens and one-off metalwork are drawn from your detail in our drawing office and fabricated into the same package, so the custom items are coordinated with the rest of the package rather than let out separately.

Where is it made?

In our own workshop at Brendale, north of Brisbane. Shop drawings, fabrication and install are handled in-house, with powder-coating and galvanising through specialist finishers, then signed off on site to the builder's program.
